Many fishermen and aquaculture farmers of East Godavari district,Andgra Pradesh are still waiting for compensation for their damaged properties, caused by rains and cyclone that battered the district in the year 2010.
The leaders of fishermen said that nearly 200 fish and seed tanks were washed away, due to natural calamities, between October and December, but the government had not yet given a single rupee of its assured relief fund to the fisherfolk.
The AP State Fishermen Welfare Association state president, Mr Lanke Marayya, said that apart from agriculture and horticulture crops, several government and non-government properties, fishermen’s assets were also damaged and washed away in the rainwater.
